FAQS
Understanding Soil Link's Material Exchange Platform
Learn how Soil Link's innovative platform helps streamline material exchange, reduce waste, and promote sustainability in the construction industry.
How does Soil Link's Materials Exchange Platform (MEP) work?
Soil Link’s MEP is a digital marketplace connecting those who have excess construction materials, with those who need them. Suppliers list available materials, whilst buyers can search or submit Requests for Quotation (RFQs). The platform facilitates communication, transaction completion, and aids with regulatory compliance. This streamlined process reduces waste, lowers costs, and minimises environmental impact in construction projects across the UK.
What types of materials can be exchanged through Soil Link?
Our MEP facilitates the trading of any heavy construction material, from soils to aggregates and asphalts. You are able to add any type of material including waste codes, classifications, branded products and more.
How does Soil Link ensure the quality of materials exchanged?
We do not check the quality of materials. Our platform allows you to upload documents that provides full information including testing and specifications on the materials supplied. This allows you to do your own compliance checks, however Soil Link facilitates this process with a centralised document storage and putting you in touch with the most compliance-focused companies in the industry.
How does Soil Link help with regulatory compliance (e.g., CL:AIRE DoWCoP)?
Whilst Soil Link doesn’t directly manage compliance, it significantly supports the process by providing centralised document storage, allowing you to keep all relevant information in one secure, team-accessible environment. The platform also connects you with reputable industry suppliers and contractors who prioritise compliance. However, it’s important to note that users remain responsible for conducting their own due diligence using CL:AIRE DoWCoP as guidance. Soil Link acts as a facilitator, offering tools and connections to support your compliance efforts – our AI tool is also on-hand to answer any consutrction or compliance specific questions you may have!
What are the costs associated with using Soil Link?
Soil Link operates on a subscription model, with tiered pricing based on your organisation’s size or needs. Our in-house development team can also create features specific to your needs, which can be discussed on a case-by-case basis. Please contact our sales team for further information and for a quote.
